With his 15th home run of the season on Wednesday night (Sept. 2) in only his 51st major league game, Minnesota Twins rookie
Miguel Sano
became the ninth player in big league history to club 15 or more homers in his first 51 games. The most homers in a players first 51 contests is 20, set by Wally Berger of the Braves in 1930 when he finished the year with a record-setting 38 home runs for a first-year player. The single-season HR mark was later matched by Frank Robinson of the Reds in 1956 and broken by Mark McGwire in 1987 when he belted 49 home runs.
